Hair should usually be about a grain-of-rice length, or roughly 1/4 inch, so the wax can grip properly.
Does Waxing Hurt?

What Should I Avoid Before My Appointment?
Avoid heavy lotions, recent sunburn, and harsh exfoliation right before your wax. If you use prescription skin products, check first before booking facial waxing.
What to Expect at Your Waxing Appointment

Before Your Appointment
- 1 Let hair grow to about 1/4 inch before waxing.
- 2 Gently exfoliate 1 to 2 days before your appointment.
- 3 Avoid lotions, oils, and deodorant on the area the day of your wax.
- 4 If you are worried about discomfort, consider an over-the-counter pain reliever about 30 minutes beforehand.
After Your Appointment
- 1 Avoid hot tubs, saunas, pools, intense workouts, and heavy sun exposure for 24 to 48 hours.
- 2 Wear loose clothing and avoid friction on freshly waxed skin.
- 3 Start gentle exfoliation after 48 hours to help prevent ingrown hairs.
- 4 Use soothing, fragrance-free products if your skin feels sensitive.
