Renew Your Skin. Refresh Your Mindset.
My story—from IKEA room dividers to building a waxing studio on integrity, intention, and empowerment
How Rejuvenate-You Began
I became a licensed esthetician and found out I was pregnant at the same time. I've always been someone who loves being prepared—learning everything I can before I fully dive in. So I pushed esthetics to the side and enrolled in early childhood development classes at the local community college.
With what I learned about children's self-esteem development, I thought I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. And I took that role seriously. I looked for books for my soon-to-be husband to read as our "training manual." I knew that consistency in parenting styles prevents meltdowns and confusion, and I wanted to get it right.
Then a salon owner remembered I'd gone to esthetics school. She'd been talking about me to her clients and asked if I could come in to do facials. We set up a treatment table in the middle of the salon, creating privacy with IKEA room dividers that went from floor to ceiling.
I started on Sundays and Mondays while the owner was off. But eventually, I needed to work while she was there too—and my client list grew so much that my soon-to-be husband said I needed to make it official. LLC, taxes, the works.
The Shift: From Relaxing to Results
Working in that open salon space, I quickly learned something important: I preferred doing result-oriented treatments over "relaxing" facials. The environment wasn't exactly spa-calm—you could hear the salon owner doing hair, having conversations. It wasn't the whisper-quiet, candle-lit experience people expect from a relaxation facial.
So I pivoted. I focused on treatments where the background activity actually helped—where conversation and ambient noise took clients' minds off the tingling sensation of an acid peel. I specialized in results-driven skin treatments, and I started seeing faster, more visible improvements in my clients' skin.
That's when I came up with the name Rejuvenate-You. Because that's how I want every single client to feel when they leave—not just smoother or clearer, but renewed. Physically and mentally.
The Intentional Pause
Eventually, I had a second child. My youngest needed to go to half-day preschool while my oldest was in full-day grade school. Both grandmas offered to pick up my kids so I could keep working.
But I remembered something: my children only talk about their school day when they're in the car. Those car rides are when they decompress, share, process. I wanted to be there for that. I wanted to help them remember their day so they could share it with their dad at dinner.
So I made a choice. I referred my clients out. I stopped working the weekdays. I cut back to Saturdays only. Then I gave that up too—because weekends are for family, for my husband, for being present.
I decided to be a full-time stay-at-home mom until my youngest was in full-day school. And I knew I'd come back when the time was right.
The Question That Changed Everything
During that time at home, my mischievous toddler—my mini-me—asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks:
"What do you do?"
She explained that she knew what her grandmas did for work, what her dad did, what her grandpas did—but not me. I thought it was cute at first. But I could clearly tell she was judging my validation. This little independent thinker learns by watching.
I told her I take care of her and her brother. She asked if I got paid for that. I told her no—that I'd given up my job to be there for her.
She definitely didn't seem impressed.
And I realized: she wouldn't fully trust my opinions unless she saw me living growing life experiences myself. My children were only going to learn from watching me—not from me telling them my expectations or how things should be done.
I also realized something else: I really missed the rejuvenation I personally felt when helping clients feel comfortable in their own skin.
Learning the Industry—The Good and The Bad
With both kids in full-day school (my youngest still in kindergarten), I decided to go back to work for others. I wanted to learn everything I could and master my trade.
I worked for corporate chains. I worked for doctors. I learned laser and other resurfacing skin treatments. And I felt happy working part-time for others—leaving work at work and coming home.
I loved working with a team of women, pushing each other to hit goals with friendly competitive games and mini prizes. I loved monthly check-ins, seeing my sales numbers, client retention, and service numbers compared to previous months. I liked striving to be top in services or sales—especially if there was a game or prize to win.
Why I Left—Twice
The Waxing Chain
I worked for one franchise for about four years—never calling out, picking up extra shifts. Then I experienced a huge loss in my family. I was shocked when the company gave me no grace during my time of need.
Worse, I realized I was being punished for being good at my job. They gave me higher goals than anyone else because they knew I was capable of hitting them.
When I moved and tried to transfer to a location closer to my new home, they blocked it. They didn't want too many clients following me to that location. I ended up choosing a less busy location just to avoid conflict. I gave that franchise two more years—six total—before COVID changed everything.
The Medical Spa
After the first franchise sold to new owners, I didn't want to deal with toxic leadership again. So I moved to a family-owned medical spa. I enjoyed learning new things—they even helped me become certified in laser because they saw how much I knew about skin.
But there were ethical issues. I started losing sleep on Sundays, knowing I'd be putting out fires on Mondays. I had put in my contract from day one that I wouldn't work Saturdays, but I was constantly being asked to clean up Saturday's messes—signing off on files from procedures I didn't witness.
The owners saw patients as transactions. I see them as people I can help transform to feel comfortable in their own skin.
I told a coworker in bookkeeping that I was going to start looking for a location where I could work for myself. It wasn't a coincidence when she asked how much I'd want to pay daily—and then a few weeks later, after watching me call and walk into salons and chiropractor offices asking about unused rooms, helped connect me with my current space.
Building What I Believe In
I wanted to find a location with like-minded people doing services that help people feel good about themselves—just like I did when I accidentally started Rejuvenate-You 10 years before.
I realized it's up to me to create an environment that truly gives love and acceptance. Knowing that God will provide, and the money will come without me micromanaging or sucking it out of people by focusing on or creating new insecurities during consultations.
Integrity before income. Always.
The Mental Exfoliation Philosophy
Here's what I teach my clients that makes Rejuvenate-You different:
Rejuvenation isn't just physical. It's the moment tension releases, confidence returns, and momentum builds. It's a mindset reset as much as a skin treatment.
When I explain exfoliation during your service, I connect it to something deeper. The first step in your evening routine: identify negative thoughts that circle in your mind. Ask if they're serving you. If not, release them—just like you release dead skin during exfoliation.
Then replace those thoughts with gratitude and positivity, like adding nourishing hydration products that your skin needs to thrive. It's the best way to end a day—or start one—with a positive, rejuvenating mindset.
What I Stand For
Integrity Before Income
I walked away from two jobs that paid well because they conflicted with my values. I'll never pressure you into services or make you feel insecure to sell you something.
Renewal
Not just smooth skin—renewed confidence. My goal is for you to leave feeling happy, free, and ready to take on your world.
Precision + Purpose
I love tracking numbers and hitting goals—but only when it's ethical. Detail matters. No stray hairs. No rushed work. Just thorough, efficient service.
Life Outside the Studio
When I'm not at work, you'll find me looking for adventures and opportunities to make every experience a learning experience for my two kids. I feel like parenting is just like life coaching.
My husband has been the best partner while raising our two kids—a preteen and teenager. I love hiking, dancing, and lifting heavy things for fun! I find myself always in gratitude when I hike during sunrise and sunset, so I try to go a few times a week.

What I'm Building
I'm not sure exactly what the future holds, but I know it's somewhere between growing multiple locations with strong systems and training other women to operate with similar standards. I want to build something scalable, something with documented methods, something that could eventually be sold as a business model.
And I want my kids to see me do it. I want them to watch me build ethically, lead with integrity, compete fairly, and win honestly. I want them to know they can pause when needed, restart when ready, and evolve without losing themselves.
That's the real rejuvenation.
